What is adoption?
Adoption is the legal placement of a child with a family who will raise the child as their own. The adoptive family obtains all legal rights given to biological parents. They become responsible for the child's well-being.
Will my child know that he or she is adopted?
Yes, adoption as a means of creating families has become so common a practice in today's society that families are no longer inclined to conceal the fact that children are adopted. In addition, you and your child are free to register with the Central Adoption Registry or to otherwise seek a reunion when your child reaches adulthood. You are also entitled to
receive annual updates from the family, should you wish to do so.
Can I receive help with the financial costs of pregnancy and childbirth?
Yes, we will help you with arrangements for your medical care and expenses. We will also provide assistance with housing, clothing, etc. on a case by case basis. We assist with transportation for doctor's appointments, hospital visits and other
maternity related errands if needed.
Do you provide counseling?
Yes, we do. We have a Licensed Professional Counselor on staff to assist you with any counseling you may need. You are entitled to free counseling at any time during the pregnancy or after the birth of the child.
Can I see my baby before I place him or her for adoption?
Absolutely...but the decision is yours and only yours. You may feel that seeing the baby will be too difficult and choose not to - there's nothing wrong with that! It is your decision to make and should be made without undue pressure from anyone.
What if I want to meet the adoptive family?
You can meet the adoptive family if you feel it would make you more comfortable. do not have to. Adoption choices vary from birth mom to birth mom and only you can decide what is best for you. Keep in mind you can call us at
any time - day or night. We will be more than happy to provide you with the information you may need to do what is best for you and your child.
